This is the story of Stellitsa

August 6, 2015 By Phil

It was my birthday and going to work I was thinking of presents and the present that was waiting for me in the street was a sweet kitten about three months old with many terrible open wounds on her back and on her legs.

4568629673We learned that a local woman (she informed the police that she had psychological problems) was hitting the cats with a long stick of wood full of nails in the end. We called the police but she was never punished. She has stopped doing this now – thankfully.

The little cat was terrified and she still has problems with her spine to this day. It took us months of medical treatment and loving care to make her trust humans again. We found two more cats with smaller wounds but full of fear and mistrust for humans some months later.

We sent Stellitsa to a nice home in Germany. She was adopted by a wonderful lady. She is still under treatment (holistic therapy) for her spine (the vets cannot help her any more). She cannot jump from a high point to the floor but she has lots of love and another cat with her who is her friend.

4568629675She recognized me when I visited her in her new home after one year. It was a very nice moment for us and we have continued the communication with her new owner because we like to learn her news. She is happy and calm but she doesn’t trust humans very much. This is not strange…

I took the first photo one month after I found her. I had not the courage to take photos of her wounds while she was very ill.

Dear friends, our Rowenna sent us this appeal.
Please if you can help or share, we would be grateful.

Heartbreaking to read this: "I'm constantly asking for support ,for donations, doing fundraising etc ....with little response ...". PLEASE share widely to get Cretan Animal Protection and Lorraine Benson the support needed. Paypal is lorraine.benson@hotmail.co.uk There's nothing more demoralising than struggling and working hard to no avail. Hundreds of cats and dogs have been helped to new, safe and good lives by this tiny team. I'm immensely grateful to them for their help rehoming 6 strays from here, recently. Please, help them!

We received the following story from one of our volunteers. Five days ago a nice lady my sister knows called her to ask for help! She had found 5 newborn kittens in the garbage on the street! Some monster throw them the minute they were born, they had the cord (is that the right word?)… [Read More]

Another Nice Day In Paradise

August 6, 2015 By Phil

(Mary Meadows) I paused for thought after being greeted by a fellow tourist with “morning, another nice day in paradise!” Yes, I thought, while it’s true that you can’t fault the constant sunshine, the sea, beaches and scenery, it is certainly no paradise for animals. Perhaps this tourist’s first visit to Crete, or possibly Greece… [Read More]
