Nigel Letheren (FCA)
Trustee & Accountancy

Peter Brown
Trustee & Retired Vet
I spent most of my professional life in small animal practice on the south coast of England and had my own practice for over 25 years. I first visited Greece with the GCWS in 2009 and fell in love with the islands, the people and of course the cats, so I’ve been back nearly every year since. A lot has changed in that time, but the cats need us as much as ever, so I’m glad to be working with GCWS as a trustee.

Phil Agate
Trustee & Web Wizard
Hi, I’m Phil and I wrote and maintain this website. I spent nearly all of my working life since the mid seventies working in IT for large national and multi national companies as a programmer. When I retired in 2008 I started to write web sites for small companies, non-profits and charities and got involved with the GCWS in 2015 when I heard they were looking for a new web site. I became a trustee the following year. Since then I have written sites for 3 other animal rescue charities.

Carolyn Murray
Trustee & Volunteer administrator
Hello, I’m Carolyn, I help with general administration and in the allocation of funding. After visiting Greece for many years and having seen the sometimes terrible treatment and often desperate lives of the street cats, I joined GCWS in 2012 as a volunteer. I’m a retired clinical physiologist in cardiology and liver transplantation (for humans!).

Sophie Louise Charvill-Wells
Hi, I’m Sophie, a Registered Veterinary Nurse working full time in a cat-only clinic in Worthing, West Sussex.
I have worked in the veterinary profession since 2017, but my love and advocacy of cats began long before that.
I assisted on my first voluntary neutering campaign with GCWS in 2021 and instantly fell in love with the work. I constantly strive to do all I can to help improve cat welfare and jumped at the chance to become a trustee at the end of 2024.
Volunteers

Helen Wright
Paid part time administrator and co ordinator.
Hi, I’m Helen, I’m a Registered Veterinary Nurse and I joined the GCWS in 2016. I have helped on many neutering campaigns in Athens and the Greek Islands as a Volunteer Registered Veterinary Nurse. I became a Trustee for the charity in 2018; I held this role for 7 years. I now work for GCWS on a part-time basis as the Co-ordinator and General Administrator.
I also work part time in a Veterinary Practice as a consulting nurse, where I am the cat ambassador and have just completed a Diploma in Feline Nursing.

Alan Wright
Photographer
Hi, I’m Alan, a professional photographer, and volunteer for the Greek Cat Welfare Society. I have photographed the street cats of Greece while assisting on neutering campaigns organised by the charity. I design the annual GCWS calendar and help maintain the charity’s website.

Alyson Cole
Volunteer website shop coordinator
Hi I’m Alyson. I am a huge animal lover and have supported and raised money for various animal charities over the years.
My husband and I live in West Wales with our two cats Cleo and Charlie.
I went to Kefalonia in Greece for my 40th birthday and it broke my heart to see so many stray cats. When I got home I looked for a charity that helped greek cats to donate money to.
I found GCWS and after reading about their work I emailed to see if I could help in any way and here I am.
